No Telecast of India's tour of Pakistan.... :-(
"India cricket fans who do not have cable television will miss live action of the upcoming Test series involving Rahul Dravid's men in Pakistan.
Instead, they will have to make do with a 90-minute highlights package on the state-run Doordarshan network.
Under a new directive, the highlights will be provided free of cost by the official rights-holder, Ten Sports.
The Supreme Court in Delhi has asked both channels to arrive at a similar solution for the one-day matches.
Dubai-based Ten Sports had challenged the Mumbai (Bombay High Court order which asked it to share the live feed with Doordarshan.
It feels the directive is 'arbitrary' and not justifiable.
The next Supreme Court hearing in the case will be held on 30 January.
Ten Sports channel is available via cable TV in India, but because of its relative high cost has very limited reach.
On the other hand, state TV can be accessed by some 90% of the one-billion plus population.
The series has provoked a huge amount of excitement and anticipation in both countries and an estimated 500 million are expected to watch the matches. "
